Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has expanded the accredited fire detection testing capabilities of its UK Life Safety & Security laboratory to include the ISO 7240 and AS ISO 7240 series of standards.
Building on Intertek’s established EN 54 accredited testing expertise, the additional scope enables manufacturers to access testing against multiple international fire detection standards through a single laboratory, simplifying compliance programmes and supporting global market access.
Many fire detection and alarm products developed to meet EN 54 requirements share common technical principles with the ISO 7240 and AS ISO 7240 series. By providing accredited testing across all three, Intertek can support manufacturers seeking to demonstrate that products intended for European, Australian and other international markets meet the relevant requirements.
The accredited scope includes:
- Control and indicating equipment (CIE)
- Fire alarm sounders and visual alarm devices (VADs)
- Power supply equipment
- Smoke, heat, multi-sensor and aspirating smoke detectors
- Manual call points
- Short-circuit isolators and input/output devices
- Loudspeakers
- Radio-linked fire detection products
- Fire detection system compatibility assessments.
This latest accreditation further strengthens the breadth of expertise available at Intertek’s Leatherhead site, which also provides environmental and EMC testing alongside medical device testing and certification to support manufacturers across a wide range of product development and compliance needs.
