Guidelines for authors

Drug Discovery & Development (DDD) aims to inform, inspire and connect our audience and wider industry to advance research and development in medical solutions.

DDD utlises the websites www.drugdiscoveryanddevelopment.co.uk and www.pharmapress.co.uk and a new tailored database to serve cutting-edge developments, insights and advances to key decision makers in the biopharma / pharma industry.

To submit an article: 

Thank you for your interest. Articles should be around 1500-1700 words in length. Tables, references and visual materials are welcome. Please submit graphics as high-resolution standalone images (e.g, jpg, png). Do not embed graphics in Word files or use low-resolution web graphics.

Peer-reviewed articles 

There is the opportunity to submit peer-reviewed articles. This requires more time internally so please consult with the editor on topics and deadlines. Peer-reviewed articles are approximately 2,000–5,000 words. Peer-reviewed articles will be included from Autum’s Edition.

Content:

DDD welcomes a wide-range of relevant articles based on topics surrounding the editorial features and regulars – topics are not rigidly restricted to that quarter – however, all articles must comply to DDD editorial guidelines. 

DDD article submissions must remain non-promotional. Company names, product names and promotional language must not be used in main body text or captions.

Submissions must be original and not published elsewhere, though you can publish different papers on the same topic in different formats. Generative AI is not permitted for op-eds. 

Please agree the topic and direction of the article in advance with the editor. 

The article should be written in a clear, narrative style and aimed at a readership that is scientifically well-qualified, although not necessarily familiar with the exact subject of the article.

Please include an abstract or summary and bullet pointed key takeaways. 

Formats: 

Please send text in a Word document or PDF to editor@pharmapress.co.uk. 

Please include a short biography (maximum 50 words per author) and high-res headshot of the author(s).

Please supply references in the Harvard format and cited – strictly non-promotional references. Any queries, please speak to the editor.

What happens next: 

Unfortunately, editorial articles cannot be returned for review, so prior to submitting, please ensure all editorial is factual and correct and you’re happy with the content.

Submitters will be sent a copy and a link to the article once it is published.
